Some of our Volunteer Stories:
- Deb: “Originally I became a volunteer to support Sue with setting up the Ray of Light Warblers, our singing group and choir. I have also lost many loved ones to cancer. There were times I felt lost, lonely and no one to talk or turn too or even sit in silence and just be there. Volunteering enables me to offer support to others who maybe going through similar emotions at what can be a difficult time and that I felt wasn’t there for me.”
- Patricia: “When I first decided to attend the classes I was a bit nervous at first but immediately they put me at ease. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed every class since and I’ve met some amazing people that have also been touched by cancer in some way. The support me and my family have received has been such a life saver for me after losing my husband. I feel privileged to be volunteering so I can give back some of the support that Ray of Light has given me and my family. I can’t thank you enough!”
- Odette: “As someone that has had many members of my family suffer from cancer, having the opportunity to give back is just wonderful. Working outside and making a space that will help others heal both mentally and physically and seeing a smile on their face is a gift in itself. Also, trying to be sustainable and creative in what and how we use things is a great opportunity. I have made some lovely friends already and I hope that as the weather changes more people will be able to use the space outside.”
