Macmillan HOPE Programme

HOPE stands for Helping to Overcome Problems Effectively. HOPE stands for Helping to Overcome Problems Effectively. Originally, this course was designed for people who have a cancer diagnosis, however this one has been adapted for those who are supporting someone with a cancer diagnosis as it recognises that many of the problems that people with a diagnosis experience are also felt by those around them.
The course is delivered by fully trained facilitators with their own experiences of cancer. It involved group discussions and some group activities and takes place over six weeks in 2.5 hour sessions. The course focuses on topics such as:
• Smarter goal setting
• Priorities and values
• Living positively with fears for the future
• Character strengths
• Physical activity
• Eating well
• Managing stress
• Coping with fatigue
• Finding things to be thankful for

We all supported each other throughout, sharing tears of sadness, tears of joy, times of seriousness, I would definitely recommend the course to anyone.”

“Words cannot express my gratitude for what this course has given me it has made me feel I am not alone”
